Haw River State Park offers a variety of activity and learning opportunities for all ages. It’s a serene setting for youth retreats, employee training, reunions, teambuilding sessions, holiday parties and club events.And, the center’s own Haw River Program can provide tailored environmental education and outdoor activities. Traditional state park amenities for camping, picnicking and hiking opportunities are under development at this new park along the headwaters of the Haw River. The park features:
- The Summit Center, a residential environmental education complex with meeting spaces
- Overnight lodging
- Swimming pool
- Athletic fields
- A trail network
- A six-acre lake.
The Summit Environmental Education Center is an outdoor environmental education center specializing in day programs and overnight field trips for groups of all ages. All courses and activities are designed to meet or exceed state and national standards for curriculum. Our courses are flexible and can be tailored to meet specific needs of teachers.

Fees & General Information
There are no entrance fees to enjoy the park. In addition to park-specific rules, please read the systemwide Park Rules for all North Carolina State Parks.
