Opened as a community owned hospital in 1960, Morehead Memorial Hospital remains a not-for-profit facility licensed for 108 acute-care beds and 121 long-term care beds. On the 22-acre campus in central Eden, services include a birthing center, cancer center, cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular services, a day hospital, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, intensive coronary care unit, a laboratory, nursing center, occupational health, rehabilitation services, women’s diagnostic services, a wound healing center and the Wright Diagnostic Center. It operates 11 clinics/practices in Eden and two in Western Rockingham County. With more than 650 employees, it is Eden’s largest employer. Managed by Novant Health, Morehead Memorial Hospital is directed by a Board of Trustees comprised of local community members. It is accredited by DNV GL Healthcare. The hospital’s ability to offer excellent and safe care close to home continues to be a strong resource for citizens of Eden and the surrounding area, including parts of Southern Virginia. Services such as its pain management clinic, surgery department, orthopedics, wound healing center and birthing center continue to be premier services that attract patients to Eden for trusted medical care.
